Why YOU Should Market on Social Media
Recently in my Social Media Principles class at Ohio
Northern we started reading the “Social Media Marketing Workbook 2016.” Throughout
the book they plan to give step by step methods to effective social media marketing.
However, the first basic question many want to understand is, “Why market on
social media?” Here are a few simple reasons as to why you or your company
would want to market on social media.
Social Media is Big.
With Facebook being the largest social media platform and
LinkedIn having hover 350 million members it is the place to be for B2B
marketers. Why would you not want to be involved in something as sizable as
social media?
Your Customers are on Social Media.
Nearly everyone uses Facebook. Most professionals have a
LinkedIn profile. The overall goal is to “fish where the fish are.” By being
involved in social media, you can reach your customers wherever they are “swimming.”
Social Media is Free.
Users love them because “for free” they get access to their friends
and family, plus information on brands that they love. In terms of marketing
there is a lot you can do too. You can build your brand, spread electronic word-of-mouth,
and even help you to stay on top-of-mind with your customers.
Social Media Can Reach Not Only Existing but Also New
Customers.
Because you can be discovered as social media customers don’t
necessarily have to be searching for you. You can be discovered by a potential
customer simply checking their Facebook news feed or browsing photos on
Instagram.
There are so many reasons to market your business on social
media. Using social media is one thing, but marketing on social media is
another. Be on the lookout for various other blog posts on the best ways to
market your business through different social media channels. In the meantime,
feel free to share your thoughts and current social media marketing strategies.
I would love to hear them!
