Five Tips for Video Content Marketing
“Social Media
Today” recently had an article on the importance of adding video content to
your social media marketing mix. Social video is everywhere. There are
staggering statics stating that Facebook and Snapchat are each serving billions
of individuals per day. YouTube reported that people are now watching over a
billion hours of content on their platform every 24 hours. What should your
business be doing to keep up and post the best content?
Pick Your Channels
All the major social media platforms offer video features of
some kind. Facebook, Instagram, Periscope (owned by Twitter) and YouTube all
offer live video. When deciding what channel to focus on, there are many
questions you need to ask yourself.
What is the least amount of content that will reach the
biggest audience?
What channel does your audience use the most?
Where is your largest follower base?
Create Content That Works
Whatever you choose, you need to integrate your brand
personality into all your videos and tell a consistent story with your content.
Typically, funny videos are the most shared. “How-To” videos are the most
searched content on YouTube. Try to create a series that is fun and shareable.
Break Down the Walls Between You and Your Customer
The best way to break the barrier is to simply ask your customers
what content they want to see on your social media platforms. After receiving
their responses adapt to what they would wish to see and you may be quite
shocked with the results.
Be Consistent
Stay consistent whether you are utilizing live or recorded
video. If you typically post at a certain time, don’t break the schedule.
Keeping your schedule consistent will allow your viewers to know when to expect
new content. Think of your content like your favorite TV show. Do they
typically change the time week to week, or do they keep it consistent?
Building a reliable and consistent presence can
significantly boost your video performance.
Don’t Be Scared of Live Video
Live video was on every “trend” list for 2017, with
most in the industry expecting more emphasis to be put on live and the
connective capacity it provides. You don’t need a huge marketing budget; you
can shoot live video on your phone. You can't expect to have a massive
following right out of the gate, but experiment, engage with your viewers, and
have fun.
These are all tips to consider when creating video content
for your social media platforms. Have you posted videos on your platforms? If
so, feel free to share. If not, I would love to hear why or what you would like
your favorite accounts to produce. Place your thoughts below!
