Three Categories for Marketing Goals

Did you know that marketing goals fall into three basic categories? Well if not, I am going to fill you in on all the details.

Sales
The goal here is to sell more product, increase market share, of wallet or increase online purchases.

Message or Positioning
This goal articulates a specific aspect of the organization’s perception or reputation that needs to be changed or a relationship that needs to be altered.

Public Safety or Education
This is most commonly a goal of government agencies and nonprofits.

It is very important to understand what your organization’s goals are from the start. You then need to evaluate the best solution or steps to accomplish those goals. The best is by creating specific and separate objectives for each audience to help you accomplish your goal. The key question to refrain back to always is, “Why am I launching this plan or pursing this strategy?” If you ask yourself this question you can help assure you will accomplish your goal.
