What Enneagram Type Are You?

Enneagrams are all the rage right now. If you don't know what an enneagram is, it is a system of personality typing that describes patterns in how people conceptualize the world and manage their emotions. The Enneagram model describes nine different personality types and maps each of these types on a nine-pointed diagram which helps to illustrate how the types relate to one another.

To find your enneagram, you need to answer a series of questions honestly. Here is a link to a free test to help you find out which type you are. The test should take about 10-15 minutes.

Once you have completed the test, your enneagram type will be revealed. There are nine different types. The test will score you on all nine and help you understand which you identify most with. In some cases, you may also closely identify with another type and that would be considered your “wing.”

I am a type three, meaning that I am considered “An Achiever.” Here are some of my defining characteristics:
  • Acutely aware of social niceties
  • Impressive range of accomplishments
  • Extremely busy and on the go
  • Jam-packed schedules and meetings
  • May have interests in improvisation or acting
  • Refined taste in outer appearance
  • Charismatic; makes good first impressions
My wing is type two, which is considered “The Giver.” Here some of those defining characteristics:
  • Warm smile and eyes
  • Approachable, radiates kindness
  • Vocal volunteer or activist
  • Excellent team player
  • Caring and gentle
  • Nurturing and patient
  • Smooth, flowing movements
Do you think these accurately describe me?

This test will help you understand how not only you think and feel, but how others think and feel if you know their type. For example, my roommate is a type seven wing six. She is considered “An Enthusiast” with some other characteristics of “The Loyalist.” By knowing this an understanding her type I can better engage with her and understand why she makes choices that she does and how she may respond to certain situations.

If you don’t know your type, I highly encourage you to take the test. Once you know your type, head to Instagram and check out some of the really fun and cute graphics people have created too. Here is an example of one of my favorites for a type three.
